so MacBook Neo at $599 does not have Touch ID (major inconvenience), only 8GB of RAM, and one of two USB ports is USB 2 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. A18 CPU also means no virtualization, and probably has other limitations for macOS. M5 MacBook Air is a much better deal at $1099 IMO
I got a lot of heat for that take, “BECAUSE IT’S NOT FOR YOU, YOU IDIOT”. I’m not a target audience for this Mac, of course, so the time will tell if it’s really successful with the ICP (ideal customer profile, not Insane Clown Posse) everyone thinks it targets: kids, schools, elderly, etc. I thought this might be an interesting choice for my mom, for example, but she carries her iPhone with her all the time, so what she really needs is either an iMac or a Mac mini.
