Old Finder vs new Finder

As I’m still going through some of the WWDC updates and collecting my thoughts, I wanted to express my opinion on this change:

Why? Just why???

I am talking specifically about reversing that Finder icon. What exactly was the reason for it? For many years, the darker side of the Finder’s face was on the left.

Maybe the team that was playing with those pieces of glass just got the pieces wrong?

On a more serious note, the Finder’s icon is such a recognizable element of Mac in general that the whole idea of changing it for whatever reason Apple did it feels wrong. On top of that, using a blue piece of glass on the right now makes the icon unbalanced, with this weird blue spot on the right that is significantly smaller, and it somehow throws off the whole look. I think this is a wrong decision and I hope Apple reconsiders. Afterall, remember the Apple logo in the middle of the Mac menu bar in Mac OS X Public Beta? Even though Steve Jobs obviously liked it, they still were able to make it right in the release version.
