Apple collection bonus

On Facebook Marketplace, which I browse almost every day (almost like checking the news in search of surprises; it’s still better than reading the actual news), I saw a listing for a computer with several keyboards at a low price.

I was already planning to expand my collection with a couple of old monitors to have something to connect my vintage Mac computers to, and here was not only a monitor but also a computer and keyboards—ignoring it would have been a sin. (Three out of the four keyboards, unfortunately, turned out to be membrane junk, but the extra ergonomic Apple Adjustable Keyboard was worth it.)

I arranged a meeting with the seller, drove to his place (a 100 miles  trip for such a lot totally worth it), and he brought out a box with the computer. Then he said, “I have some more old junk I was planning to throw away—do you want it?” Ha, no need to ask. So I ended up bringing all this home:

And all for $120.

However, both Mac Plus units don’t power on, so I need to check if they can be easily fixed. If not, no big deal—I’ll sell or give them away for free, as I already have a working Mac Plus. The Power Mac G4 in the back powers on, but I haven’t looked into it further. I already own one, so I’ll compare specs, keep the better one, and sell the other.

Both the Power Mac 7500 and Power Mac G3 also power on, but I haven’t checked beyond that due to lack of time. I already have a vertical Power Mac G3 from that era, but I wanted to add a horizontal one to my collection. As for the 7500, I’ll likely pass it on to someone else.

The main issue now is that I’m running out of storage space for all these exhibits. I plan to create a dedicated display area, but that requires me to finish setting up my basement, which takes a lot of time and effort. The key thing is to control myself with new acquisitions because there’s a fine line between collecting and hoarding random junk.
